Commemorating Henry Chalfant with pop-up amid exhibition
The Bronx Museum of the Arts gets ready to open its Henry Chalfant exhibition this week. The museum has teamed up with ALIFE on a collaborative pop-up shop. The pop-up collection will feature streetwear, accessories and more, paying homage to the Bronx’s impact on graffiti culture while showcasing Chalfant’s photos to show the borough’s significance to the art form.
The main pieces are hoodies with the phrase “ART IS NOT A CRIME,” printed on them.
The collection will be available starting on September 25 at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Alongside a screening of Chalfant’s Style Wars documentary (1983) and a conversation with various graffiti artists titled “The Evolution of Style.”
