A think-piece written and directed by Abdou Cisse about the iconic ‘screwface’ expression
Abdou Cisse dives into the world of young men who grew up in inner city environments. The film is co-written and voiced by Kieran Kenlock.
The film is based on real life experiences of Abdou Cisse, who grew up in South London he gives you an insight into what it’s like growing up in a place where a young man’s masculinity is challenged and defended by a mere expression, the ‘screwface.’
We definitely loved this piece, in a time where everybody takes everything so serious, he found a way to display how sometimes a simple smile can save a life or get that girl. Especially, for men smiling and the stereotypes of the ‘screwface.’
